CONTEMPORARY FRAMING
iolabs offers contemporary non-traditional framing and mounting options. Rather than working with conventional frames and mats, we specialize in creating framing solutions with plexiglass (acrylic) face-mounts, panel boxes, floating frames, shadow boxes, and frameless mounting. Every project is different, so all of our work is completely customizable. Our framing and mounting options offer a unique, finished look that suits the project.

PLEXIGLASS FACE-MOUNTING
Plexiglass face-mounts are an ultra-contemporary frameless finish that give images a whole new depth and vibrancy. Using a clear adhesive, your print is mounted between a layer of clear acrylic (plexiglass) and a rigid mounting surface. Plexiglass protects prints from moisture and UV damage, while enhancing the richness and depth of the image. Prints will need to be done on a highly smooth paper to adhere properly (paper options include: Hahnemuhle Photo Glossy, Metallic Pearl, Epson Semimatte, or Moab Slickrock).
PANEL BOXES
Prints are flush-mounted first to acid-free museum board, and second to a hardwood custom panel box with a standard depth of 1.5 inches off the wall. Panel boxes can be custom-stained or painted to complement the print. See bottom of page for stain options.
FLOAT FRAMES
Prints are floated inside hardwood frames, providing a clean, contemporary, and glass-free approach to hanging your image. Each print is mounted to one of our substrates and adhered to the solid wood edging of the frame. Float frames can be custom-stained or painted to complement the print. SHADOW BOX FRAME WITH ACRYLIC
Shadow box frames are a great way to present reproductions or original artwork in a truly pleasing aesthetic. Mounted artwork floats within a deep custom wood frame that is finished with either museum-grade or standard acrylic. Shadow box frames can be custom-stained or painted to complement the print. FLOAT BRACKET // FRAMELESS MOUNTING
Float brackets provide a contemporary way to hang artwork without having to frame your work. Float brackets are adhered to the back of a mounting substrate with a 2" inset from the edge of the artwork and float off the wall 1". Brackets are available in aluminum or hardwood in any custom size and can be stained or painted to match the mounting substrate. Brackets can be finsished with hanging wire to allow for easy install.
MAGNETIC HANGING BARS
Made from solid hardwood and available in a variety of stains, these magnetic hanging bars offer simple elegance to your prints. Comes with two screws and drywall anchors for the only setup needed. Easily interchange media, from paper and fabric to thin mounting substrates.

MOUNTING OVERVIEW
Whether you plan to have your prints framed with iolabs or elsewhere, it's helpful to mount a print to ensure that it does not sustain damage when handled or transported. Most framing options will require that prints are pre-mounted. iolabs can cold press mount images up to 48" x 60" for standard boards and up to 60" x 120" for Gatorboard.
MOUNTING SUBSTRATES
Acid-free foamcore - 3/16" thickness in white or black
Archival museum board - 1-4 ply thickness in white, black, or natural
Dibond - Most ridgid mounting substrate -aluminum sandwiching PVC plastic, in 1/8" thickness
Gatorboard - A more rigid option than foamcore and available in larger sizes, up to 60" x 120", in white or black. 3/16" standard - other thicknesses available upon request
Komatex - Rigid PVC plastic with cleaner edges than Gatorboard or foamcore. 1-6mm thickness in white, black, or gray, with custom colors available upon request
Plexiglass - 1/8" standard acrylic
